Café Saudade occupies a space that formerly housed the historic Mathilde’s Cheese Tart Factory, a place famous for its cheese tarts, appreciated by King Ferdinand II. The café, opened in 2009, combines a historic atmosphere with delicious sweet and savory treats, offering a Portuguese experience in an emblematic space befitting Café Saudade.

The shop has been in operation since 1989 and is located in the heart of Sintra’s historic center. It is a regionally themed space dedicated to selling handcrafted items, decorative objects, and jewelry.

Arcaico is a brand of plant-based, super tasty and full-of-flavor preserves.

Handmade with natural ingredients and veggies from local farmers in Sintra, they’re designed to make everyday life easier, healthier and more fun.

From pickles to sauces and condiments, each jar brings honest flavours — perfect for pairing with meals, reinventing snacks, or adding a special touch to any dish. No tricks, just good ingredients.

A Casa das Lãs is a haberdashery that opened in 1983 and is the oldest shop in Estefânia. It is run by Mrs. Maria Alice, herself a well-known reference in local commerce in Sintra.

In this haberdashery, you can feel the true spirit of local, neighborhood trade. Entering the shop is a beautiful journey into the past of the wool trade. There you will find everything a haberdashery has to offer, including many items that are now hard to find.

There is hardly anyone in Sintra who does not know Mrs. Maria Alice. Her friendliness and availability involve the customer in a unique shopping experience. When visiting A Casa das Lãs, you will find the beauty of true handcrafted work, on display and in progress, as Mrs. Maria Alice is always at the shop counter, knitting items for sale.
